Ceramic Sewing Box with Pincushion Lid
This sewing box has a pincushion lid and space inside to store stuff.
Made of 2 wheel thrown bowls, one on top and the other turned upside-down on its rim for the bottom. As with all of the other ceramics, they are hand painted with underglaze and bisque fired. Then they are dipped in shiny transparent glaze and fired again.
Each head is then fitted with a lid that is also a pincushion. The pincushion is sewn from wool fabric and a variety of trims, and stuffed with polyfill. The pincushion lid has a wood bottom sized especially for each head to fit inside the rim of the head, and is hand painted to match. A hand formed ceramic knob on top makes for easy removal. There is space inside the head to store a variety of sewing supplies.
This charming sewing box is a great gift for yourself, for anyone who likes to sew, or who just likes having lovely objects in their life. Use it in your sewing area or when you are sewing anywhere and need a fun and practical friend by your side.
Every item in this shop is handmade. By hand! Inconsistencies and slight imperfections are to be expected and welcomed as part of the personality of the object.
Sewing Boxes are packaged securely in bubble wrap, packing paper, and sturdy cardboard and shipped USPS.
Made in my smoke free studio which is occasionally visited by Mordy, Jasper, and Violet, the wondercats.
