About

Hi there! Welcome to the Fish Museum and Circus. My name is Deborah Fisher, object maker and designer of handmade things. I am the docent, ring master, circus juggler, and museum curator of this crazy mixed up cabinet of curiosities. Mostly you will find here things of a sewing, textile, and ceramic nature, with other odd bits thrown in.

I have always been a maker. From making a clay tiger in nursery school to making clay thingimals now, object making is what I love. Any materials will do and I have tried so many! Textiles and fabrics are my favorites, but these days, ceramics is not far behind. I have a BFA in fiber from Maryland Institute College of Art, and an MFA in fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art. For over 20 years I was the director of the Bright Hopes Collaborative Quilt Project, which I founded with my mother.

I am quite fond of cocoa, daffodils, and cinnamon toast. I live with my nifty husband, 2 magical daughters, 2 cats, 1 super mutt named Mr. Macaroni Pasta Pants, and my husband's chickens on the north shore of Long Island, NY.
